What the ECJVC Board Is Working On

To better support the club now while planning responsibly for the future, the board has formed several committees focused on key priorities:

  • Recruiting Committee – Responsible for providing information and education to players and families about the recruiting process, facilitating recruiting-related events, and helping create opportunities for athletes interested in playing at the next level

  • Banquet / Fundraising Committee – Supporting events and fundraising initiatives that strengthen both community connection and financial sustainability

  • Facility Committee – Exploring facility needs and opportunities to support the club’s continued growth

  • Player / Club Engagement Committee – Enhancing communication, culture, and engagement for players and families

  • Long Range Planning Committee – Focusing on strategic planning and the long-term vision of ECJVC

  • Bylaw Review & Modernization Committee – Reviewing and updating governing documents to reflect best practices and support long-term stability

Meet the ECJVC Board

Brittany Jones – President

Brittany Jones serves as President of East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club and brings both a parent’s perspective and a strong passion for community growth to the board. Her daughter, Shelby Jones, plays on the ECJVC 14 Premier team and has been part of the club for the past three years, giving Brittany firsthand insight into the club’s impact on athletes and families.

Brittany joined the board two years ago with the goal of gaining a deeper understanding of the club and helping expand its reach and positive influence within the community. Although she did not play volleyball herself, she quickly fell in love with the sport and the life skills it builds, including teamwork, communication, accountability, adaptability, leadership, resilience, and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.

Professionally, Brittany works full time as a Regional Business Development Leader with Frontline Insurance, where she supports and manages growth across three states. Outside of work and volleyball, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and operates a small side business that allows her to connect with and support others. She is honored to serve ECJVC and is deeply committed to strengthening the club’s culture, supporting its athletes, and ensuring a strong future for the organization and community it serves.


Jen Hall – Vice President

Jen Hall is in her second year serving on the ECJVC Board and currently holds the role of Vice President. Her goal is to help the club continue to grow, with a long-term vision of expanding into a larger, state-of-the-art facility that would offer in-house sports training and physical therapy under one roof.

Jen has been involved in club volleyball for many years—her older daughter played at East Carolina University, and her younger daughter is in her third year playing at ECJVC. She is active in the community, volunteering at the hospital gift shop and community center, and is a member of the Service League, Pirate Club, and Ocean Forest Cotillion. In her free time, Jen enjoys interior design and decorating, directing weddings, event planning, playing tennis, and spending time with her family while cheering on the Pirates at ECU sporting events.


Alicia Delamere – Treasurer

Alicia Delamere is the parent of Sophia Roach, who has played with ECJVC for two years and currently competes on the 15 National team. She is passionate about supporting her daughter’s athletic journey and enjoys being actively involved behind the scenes in many aspects of the club.

Professionally, Alicia serves as Director of Community Relations and Marketing for Ricci Law Firm. With a strong background in community engagement and strategic communication, Alicia is excited to take on the role of Treasurer and contribute to the financial stewardship, growth, and long-term success of ECJVC.


Lindsey Cartrette – Secretary

Lindsey Cartrette is serving her first term as Secretary for the East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club. Her family is in their second year with ECJVC, and she has developed a strong appreciation for the club’s emphasis on athlete development, teamwork, and fostering a supportive community for both players and families. This season, her daughter Scarlett competes on the 14 Select Jackson team.

Lindsey holds both undergraduate and master’s degrees in Elementary Education and brings over 17 years of experience in the field of education. For the past seven years, she has taught two- and three-year-old students at Memorial Baptist Preschool, where she is passionate about early childhood development and creating nurturing, engaging learning environments that support the whole child.

Through her background in education, Lindsey brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to clear communication to her role as Secretary. She supports the board through accurate recordkeeping, effective communication, and administrative leadership, and she is honored to serve ECJVC while contributing to the club’s continued growth and success.


Members at Large

 

Robby Oakes

Robby Oakes is a Chapel Hill native and a graduate of the University of North Carolina. He and his wife, Amanda, along with their daughters Anna Claire, Kenan, and Lily, divide their time between Chapel Hill and Morehead City, North Carolina.

Robby joined Corporate Investors Mortgage Group in 2003 with a background in financial planning and real estate and quickly established himself in the industry, earning the 2004 North Carolina Association of Mortgage Professionals “Rookie of the Year” award. He brings extensive financial and real estate expertise to the board.


Gina Garriss

Gina Garriss is the parent of Kamryn, who plays on the 13 National team and is in her second year with ECJVC. She brings prior board and team management experience from the PGSA soccer club, where her son Landon plays.

Gina works as an occupational therapist at ECU Health Medical Center and enjoys helping athletes learn proper warm-ups, injury prevention strategies, and recovery techniques. She looks forward to working with board members, coaches, and families to support ECJVC athletes and continue building a positive club environment.


Dave Kemble

Dave Kemble earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from East Carolina University. He currently serves as an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology at ECU, where he is the Program Coordinator for the Applied Exercise Physiology track and the Minor in Strength and Conditioning.

Dave is also the owner of East Carolina Weightlifting & Sports Performance, LLC in Greenville, North Carolina. His gym serves youth and junior athletes across a variety of sports, including volleyball. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a National Coach with USA Weightlifting, and a Lead Instructor for USA Weightlifting coaching courses. Dave is the recipient of the 2010 Health and Human Performance Ray Martinez Teaching Excellence Award.

Dave’s daughter is in her first year with ECJVC and currently plays on the 12 Regional team, giving him both a professional and parent perspective on athlete development within the club.


Wendie DeHart

Wendie DeHart has been coaching volleyball for nearly 30 years and has spent the past decade with ECJVC. She currently leads the Pre-Travel program and helps lead the 13-and-under clinics, while also supporting 13U teams and mentoring new coaches throughout the season.

As both a hands-on coach and a parent of a player in the 13s age group, Wendie values the opportunity to contribute from multiple perspectives. She is proud to be part of a club that continues to grow and is excited to support the next generation of players, families, and coaches at ECJVC.


William Thomas

William Thomas is the parent of Ashleigh, who plays on the ECJVC 17 Premier team. He has worked for Food Lion for 27 years and serves as a volunteer firefighter with Winterville Fire Rescue. In addition, William works part time with Winterville EMS as an Advanced EMT and part time with Greenville Fire Rescue.

William brings a strong background in service, teamwork, and community involvement to the board.


Luanne Warren

Luanne Warren is a dedicated physical education and health teacher with 21 years of experience. She currently teaches at E.B. Aycock Middle School, where she has spent the past 14 years.

Luanne is a proud graduate of East Carolina University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science, a Master of Arts in Health Education, and a Master of Arts in Physical Education. She has coached volleyball, tennis, and softball throughout her career and is passionate about impacting students’ lives through athletics and education.

Luanne and her husband, Tyler, have two children, Riley (12) and Luke (8). Riley plays on the ECJVC 12 Select team, and Luke participates in baseball, basketball, and flag football. As a family, they enjoy attending ECU sporting events and supporting the Pirates together.


Tracy Grimes-Swindell

Tracy Grimes-Swindell is an educator with experience across multiple sectors of education. She currently serves as Chief Legacy Strategist and Global Ambassador of Culture and Consciousness for a company in Maryland and is also a teacher at Rocky Mount Preparatory School in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Tracy brings a wealth of board experience and is passionate about community building and supporting the growth of young leaders. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family. She is a proud mother of Madison, who plays on the ECJVC 16 Regional team, and wife to Shon.


Danielle Conklin

Danielle Conklin is the parent of Kayleigh Sullivan, who plays on the ECJVC 16U Regional team. This is her family’s first official year with ECJVC.

Danielle has served on the Board of Directors for the Greenville Chorale Society as the Children’s Chorus Advocate for three years and currently serves as the Fundraising Coordinator for the Youth Chorale. She looks forward to helping with player and club engagement and is honored to be part of the ECJVC family.


Dave Schiller

Dave Schiller works at the Brody School of Medicine and with Winterville EMS. His daughter has been part of ECJVC for nearly five years, providing him with a strong understanding of the club’s growth and needs.

Dave serves on both the Facility Committee and the Long Range Planning Committee and is focused on supporting ECJVC’s future development and long-term sustainability.


Alexa Ruffin

Alexa Ruffin is a Greenville, North Carolina native and has been part of the ECJVC family for over 16 years. She is married to Kenrick and is the proud mother of Kayla, Trayce, Ali, and Taryn.

Alexa plays an active role in supporting the club by assisting with tournament operations, helping with facility setup and breakdown, and supporting day-to-day club needs. Kayla, Trayce, and Ali have all played or coached at ECJVC, and Taryn currently plays on the 17 National team. She is always happy to help wherever needed and is proud to support ECJVC.


Club Leadership

Kelley Krainiak – Director of the Club

Kelley Krainiak moved to Greenville in 2004 to play volleyball for East Carolina University. She graduated in 2008 holding multiple volleyball records for the Pirates and earned degrees in Physical Education and Psychology.

After earning a Master’s Degree in Sport Management while coaching the ECU Pirates from 2009–2011, Kelley became the full-time Director of East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club. She brings more than 18 years of coaching experience at the club, high school, and collegiate levels and is deeply committed to athlete development, competitive excellence, and the continued growth of ECJVC.


ECJVC Staff & Operations

Lisa Douglas – Financial Manager / Accountant

Lisa Douglas has been involved with East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club for more than 20 years. She began as a parent when her oldest daughter started playing at age 11, later served on the ECJVC Board as Treasurer, and now continues her work with the club as a subcontractor and Financial Manager.

Lisa is a Greenville native and a graduate of Rose High School. She earned a business degree with a concentration in Accounting from UNC–Chapel Hill. She is married to Gordon Douglas, a retired CPA, and has three children, including Kendall, who currently coaches with ECJVC.
